There are many renowned quotes on the subject matter of real estate. Perhaps you've heard a few. Pliny the Elder, (circa 23-79 AD, in the 1st century) was a Roman author and statesman who coined the phrase, "home is where the heart is." 2,000 years later, the passage still resonates, as shelter remains a fundamental need, and home is where we spend 1/3rd of our lives.

In the 18th century, Thomas Jefferson borrowed the phrase, "pursuit of happiness," from John Locke, when citing the peoples' inalienable rights of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," in the Declaration of Independence. And by 'happiness' to be sure Jefferson meant, 'property' and more specifically 'land.' Mark Twain quipped, "buy land, they aren't making any more of it." And perhaps the most famous cliche regarding the three most important factors for determining desirability of a property, "location, location, location," was attributed to British real estate mogul, Harold Samuel in the 1900's. Yet historians now claim the saying was coined much earlier and referenced in print before Lord Samuel used it. What words come to your top of mind when thinking about real estate?
